The CAS Christmas challenge for September is all about woodland critters — I'm just managing to sneak in before month end!
This card ended up taking a very long time to make — nothing to do with the card itself, everything to do with the fact I cut a mask for a stamp (pine cone) and then absolutely could not find the stamp I'd just used. Don't you just hate it when that happens?! After about an hour of searching I gave up and went with just the branches - our squirrel friend will have to keep searching for his Christmas lunch!Simple stamping, colouring and a few sequins here, nothing fancy. I did add a bit of glitter pen to some of the pine needles for a bit of festive sparkle. The sweet little squirrel is definitely a red — he has those tufty ears that the greys lack.
Stamps:
Squirrel surprise (Carabelle Studio, no longer with us)
Pine Branch Small and Merry Christmas (Lesia Zgharda)
Paper: Cryogen white
Ink:
Brilliance by Tsukineko (Coffee Bean, Pearlescent Ivy)
Memento Luxe by Tsukineko (Love Letter)
Other:
Copic markers
Coloured pencils
Clear iridescent sequins
Spica glitter pen (green)
Fineliner
Pan Pastel (Pthalo green tint)
Corner Chomper
Thanks for stopping by!

No pine cones needed! This is perfectly adorable just the way it is! Thanks for sharing it with us at CAS Christmas!
Love this sweet little red squirrel with his feathery pointed ears, Joanne - he looks so cute gazing at us between the pine branches - lovely inking around your image! Thanks for joining us at CAS Christmas! Julia xx
Oh my gosh ... this is such a sweet card. Your squirrel is adorable sitting in the pine branches. I constantly "loose" things in my art studio. It's become an everyday occurrence, so I can relate. You know it will show up just after you post your card, so expect to see it soon. :) Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Christmas, Joanne! xx
Never mind your card turned out brilliantly. That sounds a bit like the story of my life in my craft room. Things constantly go missing. Bet your stamp has turned up now xx
Oh, my word. I only looked at this stamp in my 'stamp mine' yesterday! This is gorgeous, Joanne. A real beauty. Jo x
Adorable squirrel on the pines, Joanne! Love the soft inking behind too!!
Sorry I missed this pretty card Joanne but I just adore red squirrels, and this one is so cute tucked among the pine branches, and the blue is such a wonderful colour for the background, and finished with that lovely red stamped sentiment..a great CAS card and so pleased it was chosen as a Top Pick. x
Ah! this is the card with the pine cone issue! I'm glad you found it in the end, but the card looks fine without it. I love Red Squirrels and was thrilled to see one when we were at Vindolanda a few years ago.
OH! This is fabulous, I love the squirrel amongst the pine branches. x
